The year ended off with MEC London Race Five. On Oct 31, this race consisted of both road and trail distance options. To date, we had our biggest race turnout of 356. We also had our biggest day of registration with 56 runners. The weather was chilly, but fantastic for Halloween. Runners were in great spirits with many dressing up in special costumes! This year could not have been done without the amazing help of the MEC London Race volunteers. A huge thank you is owed to this team, as they are what helps keep these great races running with low entry costs.

As a thank you to all MEC London Athletes, in December we hosted an Athlete Appreciation night. This night special guest speakers included: Cyclists Marten Mann – Training Principles, how to adapt to various schedules and lifestyles; Runner Ary Tsotras – A Personal Story (Ary, who is an amazing runner, happens to be blind and has used the MEC Race Series — as well as many other races — on his road to the Boston Marathon; and lastly Sue Safadi with Meridian Active Joint Physiotherapy Centre – Are you at risk for an injury? Focus on Prehab and not Rehab: A presentation on the Functional Movement Screen (FMS), a tool used to identify limitations or asymmetries in seven fundamental movement patterns that are key to functional movement quality in athletes. Other special guests included the MS Bike Tour, Goodlife Fitness, Pacer Running Club, and a few others! It was a great night with appetizers and a special chocolate fountain. We cannot wait to kick off the 2016 race season!

What to expect in 2016
We are very excited to announce the dates for the 2016 race season. We will be hosting five races throughout London with many distance options available in both trail and road. This year we have added a certified Full Marathon. This distance is located in Pottersberg Park running alongside the Thames River. Travel the city as you head from South East London, to South West London gliding through the downtown core and Western University. It’s the best route in town! Sign up for all five races for just $60. Go to: events.mec.ca.
