This year London Life Forest City Road Races are celebrating 35 years as the premiere running event in SW Ontario. All of the proceeds raised from the event goes to the Thames Valley Children’s Center. TVCC supports over 8000 kids with disabilities from all over SW Ontario.
With over 2500 partici- pants each year, it is nice to see so many runners and walkers come out to con- tribute to build a strong local community. Distances of- fered are the McDonalds Kids Fun Run, the M&T Printing Group 5k, the New Balance London 10k and the McFarlan Rowlands Half Marathon. For those who like to be pam- pered, the Vogue Optical VIP tent boasts private massage, warm place to change, pri- vate bathrooms, and celebri- ties like Olympians Eric Gillis and Reid Coolsaet.
This is a great opportunity for sports teams, co-workers and large groups to work together as one and raise money for many different charities. This year over 15 charities are involved for par- ticipants to collect pledges.
Keeping the entire family in mind, all weekend you can enjoy the Skor Whole- sale Expo. Over 30 vendors supporting health and fitness, as well as home improve- ments and more. The McCor- mick Kidzone offers bouncy castles, fun games, a magi- cian and more, all for free to those in Victoria Park. Ronald McDonald will be in atten- dance along with many other mascots, doing their best to entertain everyone. Also in- cluded for registrants, fresh post-race snacks from Farm Boy, a tree seedling present- ed by Bentley Hearing, in sup- port of Reforest London, and a complimentary massage. Even better, every runner gets one free slice of Domino’s pizza. When you cross that finish line, and get your 6” medal, you know you earned it. The London Life Forest City Road Races welcome all ages and abilities.
So, are you doin’ it?
