It was a busy summer for the Competition Team members at Family Karate. In early August, the team had the opportunity to visit the Kilworth Children’s Centre in Komoka to share their knowledge and demonstrate their skills for dozens of children aged 4 to 12. Some of our younger competition team members were actually younger than the children with whom they were working! But regardless of age, all of our team members represented themselves and the team with a professional approach and eagerness. Some of the comments the coaches heard included how polite and thorough our team were as instructors. Our team is always ready for a challenge!

On a bittersweet note, the team wishes good luck to one of our coaches as he heads off to expand his horizons in post-secondary education. Zach Drake has been with the team since 2009, and he has been in a coaching role since 2015. This fall will see him start at the University of Ottawa, and the team will always look forward to his future visits. Zach’s contributions to the team and dedication to helping team members reach their potential has been invaluable and will certainly be missed. Thank you, Zach!
