Competitive Gymnastics
London Gymnastics Academy had a very successful 2012-2013 season, boasting numerous medals and awards at the Tour selection competition in Florida, Provincial championships in Windsor, Eastern championships in Newfoundland, and a top 10 finish at the National Championships in Ottawa.
Head coach Jen Kraemer expects this season will be no different.
“We have many new athletes in our Pre-competitive, Interclub, Invitational, Provincial and National levels,” Kraemer said. “I’m confident that all of the hard work put in by the gymnasts and their coaches will pay off at competitions and outside of the gym as well.”
Kraemer believes in a ‘well-rounded’ approach to training.
“All of our competitive girls are exceptional students who have great work ethic and many unique interests,” she said. “Our coaches believe in encouraging the athletes to have a life outside of the gym. When the gymnasts have good grades, other athletic or artistic interests and a good social network of friends, they are happier and more confident in their training. Our athletes are successful because they have great coaching, family support, excellent work ethic, and confidence in themselves. And this spills over into every aspect of their lives.”
LGA will be sending a record 10 athletes to the Tour select competition in Base Borden on Nov. 16. If the athletes place in the top eight, they will earn a spot on Team Ontario and travel to Cancun, Mexico in Jan. 2014.
“We’re the only club in London that has national athletes,” Kraemer said. “The Cancun Classic runs an NCAA competition, and there are many college scouts there. It’s a good opportunity for our national girls to get noticed and be on the radar for recruitment in the future.”
LGA prides itself on offering something for everyone.
“I’m so blessed to be working with such amazing athletes, dedicated staff and supportive families,” Kraemer said. “It’s my dream job and passion for life. Nothing makes me happier than seeing LGA retired athletes return to the gym as educated, successful members of the community. And many of our previous gymnasts are now having children of their own and enrolling them in our parent and tot and kindergym programs. We’re like one big happy family, and we support each other unconditionally.”
Heat Cheerleading
London Heat Cheerleading is ready to set fire to the floor at their first competition of the season! Our junior Blaze and Flames teams will be attending the ‘Very Scary Challenge’ at Kalahari in Sandusky, Ohio this November. We’re excited to watch our athletes start their competitive season for the year and start putting their hard work into action.
London Heat is really concentrating on building our up-and-coming athletes with our Mini and Youth teams this year. This will be the first year that we have run a Level 2 youth team (ages 11 and under). There is nothing like watching young athletes grow to fall in love with a sport that we have been passionate about for many years.
We also offer recreational programs for athletes of all ages to start to experience the sport and build their skills before committing to a competitive. It’s a fun, no pressure experience! Heat Cheerleading is ready for another fun, exciting and successful season.
