We often have students tell us, “I want to be a Black Belt.” And we encourage all students to set goals and work towards them. But turning a ‘want’ into an achieved goal requires focus and hard work. Carter Patterson knows this very well. He has been focusing and working hard during his training with Olympic Karate, and he is now close to becoming a Black Belt.

We want to celebrate Carter’s talent. He’s an exceptional student, he has never been disciplined in class for misbehaving, he consistently helps the instructors with other classes, and he is the current Advanced Sparring Grand Champion, a title he recently earned at our in-house Tournament of Champions. Carter’s tournament success was due to his tactful approach to his fights. Often up against bigger opponents, he studies and employed the most effective strategies for his current match. He competed with technical skill and sportsmanship, and we congratulate his well-earned efforts.

Carter continues to train with his younger sister, Mackenzie, and his father, Rob, and while you’re reading this Carter is either in the dojo training, or he’s daydreaming about karate. Keep up the awesome work Carter, and we look forward to the day (which will be soon!) when we can call you sensei.”
