The Family Karate Competition Team members have been very busy this year. So far, FKCT has had team members compete in tournaments in London, Ilderton, Stratford, Kitchener, Burlington, Chicago, and Quebec City. The team even saw three members compete in Dublin, Ireland! Upcoming competitions in London, Windsor and Detroit will keep the team busy for the next few months.
Away from the ring, the team members, family and friends have continued the giving tradition by participating in the Bell Walk for Kids and helping at the London Food Bank. Way to go, team!
The coaches have talked about setting ‘SMART’ goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely), and it’s our daily routine that helps us reach those goals. By having a set warmup and preparation for competition and in training, our athletes set themselves up for more success. Similarly, if we come to every workout ready to work hard, listen, and focus on improvement, then the culmination of these efforts will translate into success.
On the other hand, if our pre-competition actions are always different, then it becomes harder to pin-point what changes we need to make if something isn’t working for us. And if we come to workouts with an inconsistent work ethic, we won’t see a steady progression of skills.
Our athletes are doing it the right way. Keep at it!
