National Elite Scouting Combines
A number of Viper and Mustang athletes attended the Cheer Canada National Combines this fall. The National team is building a junior elite development program and phase one rolled out in nine cities across Canada with over 250 athletes attending. PCG Coach Trace is in his sixth year with the National team, and this year he is joined by Coach Kurt Ford, who was picked up to work with the elite recruits. Last year, Canada won silver at the World Junior Championships with a team comprised of Power Cheer Gym athletes combined with athletes from Blue Water Cheer gym in Sarnia.
Cheer for the Young and the ‘Older’
Power Cheer Gym has Tiny Rec athletes starting as young as 3 years of age, as well as a World Championships-bound Open team (17-adult). There are 7 competitive levels in cheerleading, and on any given week the gym has teams training at levels 1 through 7. PCG particularly specializes in elite Level 7 with the powerhouse Western Mustangs (Coed and All-Girl teams), the Fanshawe Black Falcons, and the newest addition to the gym: the Outlaws. PCG also hosts the pre-World Championships National Team training camp in March. It is never too late to get started in cheer. Interested athletes are invited to attend a practice and meet the gym coaches at any time during the year. Contact Power Cheer Gym at 519-667-0565 or by email at PCG@powercheergym.com.
