More than 120 golfers competed in the 2017 Senior Ryder Cup (SRC) Championship at the Highland Golf and Country Club in London on August 28. Sixteen division-winning eight-man teams took part in the championship, which featured an 11am shotgun and a lovely dinner and awards presentation for more than 150 in the evening.
The Senior Ryder Cup includes approximately 1,000 senior golf members from more than 100 golf clubs across Ontario and NY State. Each club runs a qualifying event to select its eight-man team that competes to try and make it to the championship final day. This year, 16 such clubs were represented at the Senior Ryder Cup Championship, including teams from a couple of London clubs (the host Highland Country Club and Sunningdale Golf & Country Club). A total of 32 matches were played during the Championship.
The Senior Ryder Cup (SRC), which was created in 1999, provides a forum for senior male golfers in Southern Ontario who enjoy competitive team match play. The SRC is a volunteer-led non-profit organization run by a group of retired business men who seek to create the best experience for all members and clubs.
