Golf Canada has honoured a local golf program with one of its most prestigious awards. The London Junior Golf Development Centre is the recipient of Golf Canada’s 2018 Future Links Facility of the Year award.

The London Junior Golf Development Centre earned the award for its outstanding success in delivering Future Links – Canada’s junior golf program. With an indoor location at Performance Golf London, and outdoor programs at Fire Rock Golf Club and Oxbow Glen Golf Course, the London Junior Golf program has excelled at delivering a complete progressing program. From the 6-and-under juniors in the Active Start program to the competitive juniors on U.S. Scholarships, the program has used Future Links as a cornerstone to track the development of junior golfers.

Under the direction of PGA of Canada professional Brian Gallant, the program saw over 300 juniors participate in last season’s range of programs. Part of the success of the program stems from having juniors ‘learn the game by playing the game.’ The unique design of the on-course junior league allows players to start close to the hole, break 36 shots and progress further from the hole. This allows juniors to learn to score the ball first.

The London Junior Golf Development Centre is only the sixth Canadian golf program to receive the Future Links Facility of the Year Award since the inaugural award in 2013.
