Kellett continues strong season
The summer season for Cam Kellett continued to be a series of fantastic finishes. Our last SportsXpress article highlighted a great start to the spring season for Kellett, who earned two consecutive 2nd place finishes at Golf Canada Future Links events.
In the middle of June, Cam won Golf Ontario Men’s Match Play event – a tournament that requires seven match victories to raise the trophy. In early July, Cam’s season continued with Golf Ontario’s Junior Boys Championship at Loyalist Golf Club, as well as Golf Ontario’s Men’s Amateur Championship at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club. Cam finished tied for 14th in the Junior Boys tournament, and tied for 8th in the Men’s Amateur, and he qualified for the National Championship for each event.
In August, Cam travelled to Alberta for the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, where he finished tied for 11th overall. The following week, the young golfer travelled to British Columbia for the Canadian Men’s Amateur. Fatigued, admittedly, Cam ended up missing the cut.
Overall, this season was one of the best that a junior golfer in the London area has enjoyed.
Juniors compete in Summer Games
London hosted the Ontario Summer Games (OSG) in August, and Team London golfers represented the program – in two sports. Julia Davis competed in the golf competition as part of the Tyson Tour team. And although she wasn’t particularly pleased with her performance, the experience was outstanding. Meanwhile, in addition to competing in golf, Team London junior Bennett Hawrelak also participated in Athletics. Bennett competed in two events – the 80 metre dash and the long jump. Congratulations to Bennett and Julia on your achievements!
