The CheerStrike Royals have started the 2016/2017 competitive season off strong with two great showings — first at the Very Scary Cheer Challenge in Sandusky, Ohio, and then at the ‘Cheer for the Cure’ in Oshawa, Ontario.
Nine of our competitive teams took to the floor on December 3 and 4 at the Oshawa Tribute Communities Centre. At the end of the weekend, the tally of finishes included two fourths, three thirds, a second place and three first place finishes.
Our Junior Empire team hit a fantastic routine to claim their first-place trophy. This is a team of girls aged 10 to 14 who come to practice every week with positive attitudes and willing spirits. Their coach, Peyton Demelo, says that the team “inspires me to be a better coach because they are supportive of each other and always build each other up.”
Our Tiny Knights in Armour are the fiercest 6, 5 and 4-year-olds we know. They walked away with the first-place trophy in the Tiny Level 1 division, and Coach Jill Maloney says “this team reaches every expectation that I lay out for them. They are sweet and sassy and incredibly talented little ladies.”
Our Mini Majesty beat some very talented teams to win first place in the Mini Level 2 division. They are a team of 8, 7 and 6-year-olds who can tumble, jump and stunt like superstars. Coach Deborah Van Loon says “Majesty is a team that loves to be challenged and work hard. I am so excited for this season and all that they’ll achieve.”
We are all so proud of everyone’s accomplishments and we look forward to the rest of our competitive season!
