Tired of not getting ice time? Can’t find enough people to play? Why not try Ball Hockey International? BHI offers outdoor ball hockey fun all year round with four separate seasons. The organization features five great facilities, including one in London. BHI provides players of all ages and skill sets the opportunity to get some exercise, make some friends, and enjoy the great game of hockey. Co-ed teams are offered by BHI, and they are growing in popularity.
One of those co-ed teams is Old Geezers and Eye Teasers, led by captain Gord Hull.
“I reffed a co-ed game and it seemed like a lot of fun, so I decided to start my own team,” said Hull.
That team is now in its third season together. The players’ goals are not only to get out for some hockey and exercise, but they also have a lot of fun and approach the game uniquely.
“We make other teams laugh, as some girls show up in tutus (skirts with tights) and bright coloured clothing,” Hull said. “Our attitude is we don’t care about winning or losing, just having a good time.”
BHI offers several divisions for all ages: Men’s A, B, C, D, 30+, Ladies A & B, Co-ed, and youth programs. Each season consists of 12 regular season games and two guaranteed playoff games. Teams roster a minimum of 11 players, and players can register as a team or as an individual. Single players that cannot find a team will be placed on one by BHI, which is a great way to meet people. So grab your stick, gloves, and gear and check out BHI!
BHI always has seasons on the go. Sign up a co-ed team or join one this summer. The fee is $113 per player, and games are on Friday nights. For more information or to register, please visit: www.london.ballhockeyinternational.ca.
