Walter Gretzky would like to invite you to come out and play in one of the largest ball hockey tournaments in the world from June 2 to 4 in Brantford! Come out and play Canada’s favourite game while raising money for a great cause!

In 2012, the Gretzky family announced that the Lung Association would be hosting this event on their behalf going forward, a partnership that has blossomed over the years.

After the death of Phyllis Gretzky, the matriarch of the Gretzky Clan, Wally and his family have enthusiastically partnered with the Ontario Lung Association to raise funds for research.

In Ontario, there are approximately 2.4 million people living with asthma, lung cancer, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This number is expected to grow to be 3.6 million in 30 years. One person out of every five has a lung disease, and COPD is the number one cause of hospitalization in Canada.

This year’s event will mark the 11th annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament, and we are anticipating teams from across Canada and the United States once again.

Over the past five years of running this event, we have met some great people who love hockey and, of course, meeting Wally. During this time, the Lung Association has raised and contributed $130,000 towards lung research.

Of course, we couldn’t have done this alone without the help of the community. Please join us and Wally for a weekend of fun and, yes, some great competition, with everyone vying for that ‘Wally Medal’ and bragging rights!
