At the core of every minor sports program are the coaches, who put in countless hours of mentoring, teaching and organizing that extend well beyond the specific practice sessions. We asked several Power Cheer Gym coaches what it is they love about coaching their respective age groups…
“I love coaching Tiny and Mini (ages 5-8) because I get to work with the athletes and shape raw talent right from the start of their journey through our program and give them a foundation that they can always look back on. I love watching young athletes grow up together, creating lifelong memories and friendships. I wouldn’t trade it for the world!” – Coach Lauren
“Watching a team grow. Sharing the struggles, the battles, the wins and the losses are all part of being a Senior Level 4 (ages 14-18) coach. Being with them as they come together as a team, supporting each other, pushing each other to be better on and off the floor – that’s why I come to this gym every day.” – Coach Garrett
“The Youth 2 team (ages 8-11) embodies what every coach wishes for when they commit to coaching – seeing the young ladies come together and train hard to develop their cheer skills, work through challenges, and always encouraging each other to be their best.” – Coach Susan
“I love seeing the Mini athletes (ages 7-8) experience cheerleading for the first time – and then to watch them fall in love with the sport. There is nothing more rewarding.” – Coach Jo
“Coaching Juniors (ages 11-14) is important to the entire gym, as this is the age group that bridges Youth to the Seniors. I love keeping the fun in the sport while building more intricate routine skills that the athletes will use through Senior and on to College.” – Coach Ty
