Another year has come to a close for the London St. Georges Rugby Club, and the 2013 season can be considered a success for the men’s, women’s and junior sides.

The London women’s side finished an impressive third place in the Niagara Rugby Union’s Women’s ‘A’ division. They finished with an even 5-5 record, leaving the team in an admirable position for improvement in next year’s campaign. With many new players joining the team this year, the women showed that they could gel as a team quickly and string together some impressive showings on the field in a highly-competitive league.

The St. Georges men’s team finished second in the Ontario Rugby Union’s Marshall Provincial league for the second year in a row. They improved on last year’s record, finishing 11-3 and posting the best defensive record in their league. The men’s side entered the Ontario Rugby playoffs as the No. 9 seed in Ontario and managed to knock off the No. 9 seed Oakville Crusaders. Unfortunately, the men’s campaign came to an end with a hard-fought loss in the provincial quarterfinals.

Both the men’s and women’s sides at London St. Georges enter the offseason eager to get back onto the field and improve upon their 2013 seasons. For anyone interested in joining the rugby club or with any other rugby-related inquiries, please visit the club’s website at: www.londonrugbyclub.com.
