Bill Smith is the new Executive Director of the London Sports Council, and he’s been serving in this position since November, busy planning for the new year and organizing all of the many committees under the LSC umbrella.

The London Sports Council oversees the London chapter of KidSport, the London Sports Hall of Fame, the Volunteer Recognition Evening, and the Accessible Sports Council. These committees are all made up of volunteers from London.

“We work very hard on all of these committees, but we put extra effort into the KidSport committee, because that is the program that provides grants to financially disadvantaged families so that their children can participate in sport,” said Smith. “KidSport is a registered charity and has helped more than 200 families this year alone.”

The London Sports Council has organized the Jim Allen KidSport golf tournament for the past two years to help supply the necessary funds to give back to the families and children in the London community.

“Our tournament will be held again in 2016 on June 8 at The Oaks Golf Club, and we’re looking to increase our numbers and our financial results too,” Smith said. “Another of our major events will be the 2nd annual Volunteer Recognition Night on April 13 at Western Fair District.”
