Skill work this spring

Young hockey players are constantly developing their skills on and off the ice at Snipe Academy, a premiere hockey training facility in London.

What does Snipe Academy have going for it? A lot. For starters, the hockey training facility boasts an impressive roster of coaches, including many with professional playing experience in addition to their coaching training. How about this lineup of coaches … John Warren, Ryan Rupert, Matt Rupert, Austin Osmanski, Mark Van Vlight, Hokey Langan, Billy Faragehrr, Alex Turko and Brett Welychka, along with skating specialist Keegan Knight.

The best part? These coaches continually learn from each other by attending in-house clinics and sharing sessions. This means they’re constantly evolving and expanding their coaching skills, which translates into even better learning opportunities for young hockey players accessing Snipe Academy.

And what do those young players learn? Pretty much every aspect of the game – and most certainly shooting skills. Players learn in a 1-on-1 coaching environment or in group sessions. Regardless, the goal of Snipe Academy is to provide opportunities for more rep, more reps, more reps. That’s how young players get better, after all.

The beauty of Snipe Academy is that it offers on-ice training for in-game situations without the cost of ice rental. It’s real hockey training using drills to work on specific game situations.

What’s new at the Academy? This summer, Coach Billy Faragehrr will be offering a program called ‘Automatic Reaction.’ The on-ice program will feature training in agility, skating and puck skills, and focus on improving a player’s reactive decision-making and ‘heads up’ play.

Meanwhile, the Academy will continue to offer its outdoor agility and puck skills program this summer, which puts the focus on quick feet, agility and power; and group drop-in shooting classes and small group elite summer packages will also be available this summer. There’s always hockey happening at Snipe Academy, where players are constantly improving their skills and taking their games to the next level.
