If you’re looking for an exciting sport, look no further than downhill mountain bike racing. That’s exactly what Adam Robbins did at 12 years old, and the talented racer hasn’t looked back. The teenager has numerous race wins under his belt, and this year he’ll be competing in four Canada Cup races and two World Cup competitions, starting in mid-May in Mont Tremblant
How did a youngster get involved in such a unique sport in the first place? Having grown a bit tired of team sports, Robbins was introduced to downhill racing by a friend and neighbour. He tried it and had fun. A lot of fun. He loves the competition, and he loves the excitement.
Downhill races are often held at ski hills, and feature riders racing from top to bottom of courses that are filled with rocks, ruts and jumps. What’s clearly apparent is that Robbins has a love for the sport, and the future is very bright for the young high school student.
That future may even consist of him competing regularly on the world circuit and really making a name for himself. He’s already come a long way in a unique sport, but Robbins has his eyes set on even bigger accomplishments. Given his track record of success, it seems the sky’s the limit.
