The Western Mustangs are proud to announce the establishment of a summer hockey academy. The week-long camps, which will run the last three weeks of August, are targeted at boys and girls aged 6-14 at all skill levels. The camps will primarily be taught by members of the men’s and women’s varsity hockey teams.
The camps will take place at Thompson arena on Western’s beautiful and safe campus. In addition to on-ice sessions, participants will be treated to off-ice activities designed to make the week a memorable experience. The ultimate goal, of course, is to enhance each participant’s hockey skills.
On-ice program highlights include:
• 15 hours of quality on-ice instruction … 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday
• Daily power skating instruction to improve speed, agility, balance and stride
• Daily instruction on passing, puck control and shooting
• 6:1 player to instructor teaching ratio
• On-ice testing of skating speed and agility
• Video analysis of skating techniques
• Personalized written evaluation for each player
