It was one of the busiest weekends on the year for General Manager Mark Hunter and the London Knights staff.  The 2014 OHL Priority Selection was held on Saturday, Apr. 5 — right between playoff games 1 and 2 in Guelph. Hunter and the rest of the scouting staff selected 19 new prospects to join the organization.

None was more notable than 18th overall pick Max Jones. Jones, a highly-touted 6-foot-2 power forward from Rochester, MI, recorded 22 points in 25 games to go along with 123 penalty minutes with Honeybaked this season. His father, Brad Jones, spent time with the Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings, and Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL, while his brother, Mitch Jones, currently plays defense for the Plymouth Whalers in the OHL.

With their second-round pick, the Knights selected Jones’ teammate, Ben Gleason. The 5-foot-11 Ortonville, MI, native is a smooth-skating defenseman who recorded 6 points and 10 penalty minutes in 22 games for Honeybaked this season. Like Jones, Gleason also has family ties to the NHL with cousin Tim currently playing defense for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Meanwhile, it was a very special day for one player in particular. Fifth-round selection, Dakota Miskolczi, is the son of former London Knight Ted Miskolczi, who suited up for the Knights during the 1987-88 and 1988-1989 seasons.

To round out the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, the Knights selected Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs forward Cal Horvat. Cal, who is the younger brother of current Knights’ centreman, Bo Horvat, was drafted in the 15th round.

In total, the London Knights selected 10 forwards, six defensemen, and three goalies. A full list of all 19 selections can be found below:
