The 2017-18 season is well under way for the London Wheelchair Basketball Association, and the first half of the season has been full of games, practices, and even a few demonstrations.

The London Flyers senior team has been hard at it since getting back into the gym in early September. We welcomed back the return of the Sales family from Alabama where Darda Sales had been studying and playing ball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. She also returns as a champion, as the Tide won the Collegiate Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Title last March.

The Flash program is going strong once again this year, and they have been busy training and building on all their skills since early October. In November, the Flash hosted the Kings College Disabilities Studies class. This is an annual event, and the Flash players always enjoy passing on the skills that they have learned to the Kings College students. The Flash also received four brand new basketball chairs this year. The Flash would like to thank the Goodlife Kids Foundation for their donation. We also want to thank Sunrise Medical for supplying us with the new Quickie All Court chairs.

Please stay tuned in the new year, as there is still lots going on within the London Wheelchair Basketball Association. The London Flyers have home games on February 25 at the Dorchester Flight Exec Centre beginning at 3:30pm. Meanwhile, the LWBA’s annual Ballathon fundraiser will be happening in May (more information will be posted online). And we are also excited to be introducing an all-new logo, as well as a brand new website in 2018. For our most current events, please check out our Facebook page.
