The London Lightning will be entering the 2014 playoff season in March, and things are looking a lot different for the club this time around. In each of their first two seasons, the Lightning entered the postseason as the top team in the NBL. At the time of this writing, however, they’re currently fourth in the league with a record of 20-15.
The playoffs are never easy, but this year it looks like they’ll be tougher than ever for the London Lightning, who will likely square off against the expansion Brampton A’s in the first round.
The structure for this year’s playoffs is also different than in years past. This time, there will be three rounds — the first being a best-of-five and the last two being a best-of-seven series.
The Lightning are also entering playoffs with a different theme this year. In previous seasons, their sole focus was being the best and winning a championship. While the team is still dedicated to winning a third consecutive title, the Lightning think they have a lot to be proud of off the court as well. This year, their playoff theme is TOGETHER #WeAreLightning. The two-time defending champs believe that together, with their fans, they have what it takes to be successful both on and off the court.
Although the Lightning aren’t currently the top franchise in the league, the guys will be doing their absolute best to bring home a third title to the City of London.
