Every two minutes another Canadian is diagnosed with prostate cancer. On June 23, 2014, for the 14th consecutive year, Lexus of London held its annual Golf Classic at the prestigious Oaks Golf and Country Club in support of prostate cancer awareness and research, and the tournament was a sellout once again.
A total of 144 golfers teed off in the tournament, thanks to the 18 board of directors and dozens of volunteers who make this successful event possible. Fabulous prizes and auction items were available, including luxury trips, $10,000.00 cash, a Lexus, a Scion, a motorcycle, and more. Several celebrity guests attended, including Candice Olson, Danny Hooper, Jeff Hutcheson, Brett Cleverdon, Adam Stern, Pete McLeod, Tyler Mcgregor, and Rick Doyle.
“This tournament is one of the most successful charity golf events in southwestern Ontario, having raised over 1 million dollars in the fight against prostate cancer,” said Lexus of London general manager Chris Pinelli.
The goal is to help with diagnosis procedures, as well as the quality of life for existing survivors and their families. Chris Pinelli and his team strive to heighten public awareness and provide research and patient care support in the fight against prostate cancer. Donations are still being accepted, and more information about the event can be found online at www.lexusoflondongolfclassic.com
