The 2015 season looks to be an exciting one for London St. George’s Rugby Club! Based out of the St. George’s Society fields next to the Trails End Market, the club will field three senior teams, five junior teams, and again offers its successful Flag Rugby program for kids aged 6 to 12.
Both Men’s and Women’s teams are always keen to welcome new players of all experience levels! The Senior Men’s team, led by its strong core of Ontario Blues players, returns to the top division of Ontario Rugby, having won the Marshall Provincial Division and appeared in the McCormick Cup Consolation Final last year. Their season kicks off on May 9. The Women’s side will again feature battles against perennial rivals Stoney Creek and Guelph in the Niagara Rugby Union A League, with play set to begin on May 23.
The Girls’ Junior program looks to build on a strong season in 2014, which culminated in a bronze medal at the Ontario Championships. On the boys side, we will again field U18 and U16 teams (the U16 boys were Niagara finalists last season). The boys’ teams compete in the NRU League with league play beginning at the end of June.
St. George’s Rugby Club is also looking to add an U14 team (for kids born 2001 and 2002). Rugby is a great way for kids to remain active and to learn sportsmanship and respect in a supportive team environment. If your child is looking to try a fast-growing new sport, please check out our website for details on how to take advantage of this exciting opportunity.
The Flag Rugby program continues to grow rapidly (it was founded in 2012). London St George’s offers a house league structure for kids aged 6 to 12, with league play on Friday evenings. Players can also take part in tournaments during the summer around Southwestern Ontario. Flag Rugby is fun, fast and affordable! Don’t hesitate to contact us for registration details.
