It’s the heartfelt slogan that continues to be a mainstay of Dancewear Plus after 21 years. Although the retail part of the business is strong, vibrant and growing, the backbone of the business is the Cut and Sew. It was the passion for custom costuming, after all, that gave Anne Perron the confidence and drive to open up Dancewear Plus, a retail store offering body wear, shoes and accessories for dancers and gymnasts.
Even after 21 years, what still sets the store apart from any other in southwestern Ontario is the on-site cut and sew. Custom costuming for skating, dance, gymnastics, ballroom … the list goes on. Even off-the-rack body wear has been transformed and embellished by our knowledgeable staff to achieve the look needed!
The process is not only exciting for the client, but it’s still exciting for Anne. To go from a sketch or a photo to the finished product is an amazing journey. Anne works with her clients by listening, sketching and transforming their ideas into a garment that works for them – while choosing the colors and fabrics to bring things to life. Athletes come in all shapes and sizes, and they need to feel comfortable and confident in what they are wearing. We hear so many times, “This is the most comfortable costume. I love it!”
Many of our clients share with us that they’ve been given costume awards for our work. As exciting as that is for us, it still can’t match the satisfaction of seeing the genuine smile on their faces when they emerge from the change room wearing their new costume that we have created together. No words can describe it! And that is magical!
