Sailing is a sport for all ages. Whether you’re looking for intense thrills and excitement, competitive racing, educational courses, or relaxing cruises, you can get that experience right here in London, Ontario at the Fanshawe Yacht Club and Sailing School on Fanshawe Lake.
And sailing can be a family affair. Take the Beukeboom family, for instance. Siblings Jacob and Mark Beukeboom have both taken the Canadian certified sailing lessons offered at the Sailing School, and each has progressed over the course of several summers. Jacob and Mark both sail at an advanced level and have raced competitively at regattas held in London and across the province.
As not everyone chases the high speed thrill of racing, London’s Fanshawe Yacht Club also offers countless opportunities for afternoon pleasure sailing, social gatherings and peaceful sunset cruises. The Sailing School is the perfect place to learn how to sail.
Classes are available for both youth and adult students and are taught by certified instructors in a friendly and welcoming environment, with boats, life jackets and all necessary equipment provided. Jacob and Mark Beukeboom, in fact, had no previous experience before enrolling at the Fanshawe Yacht Club Sailing School, and yet both are now capable of handling multiple types of boats in strong winds and challenging conditions.
