Durham Lords vs. Fanshawe Falcons

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women’s Softball team hosted the Durham Lords on Saturday afternoon in their season opener. The Lords won both games of the doubleheader, by final scores of 3-0 and 7-2.

 

In the first game, 2014 OCAA Softball Rookie of the Year, Kady Hawkins continued where she left off last season, with 2 hits and a stolen base. Durham’s Caitlyn Omelanchuk pitched a complete game for the win, with 9 strikeouts.

 

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Falcons got off to an exciting start after a leadoff single by Hawkins. She then stole second base and went on to score the first run of the season off of a McMahon triple. Fanshawe continued with McMahon scoring off a wild pitch, putting the home team up 2-0 after the first inning. Unfortunately, Durham added a few runs of their own and went on to take the game 7-2.

 

The Fanshawe Falcons next game takes place this upcoming Tuesday at Stronach Park. They will host the defending OCAA Champions, St. Clair Saints in a doubleheader, with game times at 6pm and 8pm.

Game Recap – Men’s Baseball – Sept. 12/15

St. Clair Saints vs. Fanshawe Falcons

 

September 12, 2015

 

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men’s Baseball team hosted the St. Clair Saints on Saturday night in their season opener. St. Clair took the first game by a final score of 10-0 and the second 4-2.

 

In the opening game, Fanshawe’s first hit of the season belonged to first baseman Bryan Hames, who finished the game 1 for 2.  St. Clair’s pitcher Kyle Breitner pitched a complete game 3-hitter, with 4 strikeouts.

 

In game two, the Saints got on the board first, putting up two runs in the opening inning. In the second inning, Fanshawe’s Cam Cook scored the first run of the season on a sacrifice fly by Tyson Patrick to cut St. Clair’s lead to one. Mike Ambrose’s fifth inning single tied the game at two, bringing home Carlos Arteaja. Falcon’s starting pitcher Braeden Ferrington threw five scoreless innings after giving up two runs in the first. The game remained tied going into the final inning, however Fanshawe fell short, giving up two runs in the seventh.

 

The Fanshawe Falcons next game will take place Friday, September 18th at Labatt Park. They will host the Humber Hawks in a doubleheader, with game times at 5pm and 7pm.
