It’s not too often a minor hockey team goes an entire regular season without being defeated, yet that’s exactly what the West London Hawks Novice MD Tier 1 team did this year, finishing with a 23-0-2 record in 25 games to cruise to a division title.
During their unforgettable regular campaign, the Hawks scored 200 goals in 25 contests while allowing only 44 against. Including tournaments and exhibition games, the team went an astounding 54-5-5, with 440 goals for and 126 against in 64 games. The longest winning streak of their season spanned 18 games before they were knocked off by the Port Credit Storm in the semis of the Rochester Invitational AAA tournament. As of this writing, the Hawks were 5-0-0 in the playoffs.
The team opened the tournament season strong by winning the Edge Again Cup AAA Tourney in Whitby in October. They followed that up with a Silverstick Regional Qualifier Tournament win in Parkhill in late December.
Meanwhile, the Hawks were semi-finalists at the Rochester tourney, and they were quarter-finalists at the West London/Byron Optimist Tournament and International Silverstick Tournament in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
It’s been a heck of a season for the West London Novice MD Tier 2 team as well, who also won their Alliance Hockey division with a record of 21-3-1. Combined, the two Novice squads went 44-3-3 en route to both qualifying for the Alliance Championships in St. Catharines in April.
