London Middlesex Roller Derby (LMRD) is an amazing group of women who aim to promote roller derby in all its forms through fun, fitness and friendship.
LMRD is comprised of a Junior team (9-17yrs old) and Ontario’s flagship LOCO chapter, The Backlash Betties (18+ yrs). LOCO (low contact) derby teams are now in London, Toronto, Brantford, Kitchener, Sarnia and Stratford. Guys, want to be involved too? Why not learn to referee?
Fridays are for the 18+ crowd from 7:30 – 8:45 pm at the Bob Hayward YMCA, while Monday boasts practices for both our junior team and our 18+ team at two different locations. If you don’t own the gear, don’t worry. LMRD provides loaner gear for those looking to try it out, and your first practice is, of course, free! All you need is a mouth guard, which is available at most retail stores.
Still not sure about getting involved? Why not come watch a game? Come to Medway Arena on July 26 and see a double header involving our Juniors and The Backlash Betties. Game time is 5:00pm.
