This fall, Peter Inch was one of three builders inducted into the prestigious Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. Each of the three inductees, including Inch – a Londoner – have greatly contributed behind the scenes to the growth of curling in Canada, and they were honoured during a celebration banquet at Curling Canada’s National Curling Congress in Ottawa.
The other two inductees were Patricia Ray, who spent 29 years as the Chief Operating Officer at Curling Canada, and the late David Beesley, who worked as the organization’s National Sponsorship Sales Director for a quarter-century.
“These three names might not be familiar to curling fans, but to those people who work inside the boards at curling championships across Canada, Peter, Patricia and David have played hugely significant roles in making our sport what it is today,” said Scott Comfort, Chair of Curling Canada’s Awards and Hall of Fame Committee. “It’s truly gratifying to be able to honour Peter, Patricia and David and recognize their efforts over the years, and to ensure that their contributions are not forgotten.”
Inch has been involved with curling at the highest levels in Canada for many years, working tirelessly on behalf of the sport in London, his hometown, and beyond. Among other roles, he chaired the host committee for the 2002 Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships in St. Thomas, and he helped organize the 2006 Scott Tournament of Hearts and the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier – both championship events in London.
Peter, who serves as the general manager at Roy Inch & Sons Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing in London, was first elected to Curling Canada’s Board of Governors during the 2013 National Curling Congress in Ottawa. He served as the Chair for the 2016-17 season, a role he prepared for over the years through countless volunteer hours put into the sport of curling.
“My goal has always been to make a difference in the curling community,” said Inch. “I feel extremely humbled and honoured to receive this recognition and join the many exceptional men and women of the past and present in the Curling Canada Hall of Fame.”
