Nolan Dunbar started playing hockey when he was four, and he hasn’t looked back. Now 12, the youngster currently plays for the London Junior Knights Peewee AA White team. There are a number of reasons Nolan enjoys playing hockey, including the speed of the game, the physical contact, and the competitiveness. He plays centre because he likes taking face-offs and enjoys the responsibility of the position.

This year, the London Junior Knights Peewee AA White team has experienced the ups and downs of a long hockey season. The team has competed in four tournaments and reached the finals each time, winning once and losing twice in double overtime. The team started the season strong, struggled down the stretch, but then entered the playoffs on an upswing.

When Nolan isn’t playing hockey, he attends grade seven at Lester B Pearson School where he plays basketball and soccer, runs cross country and track, and plays in the stage band. In the summer, Nolan plays soccer and golf and attends summer camps.

Nolan’s favourite players are Max Domi and Matt Duchene because of their speed, tenacity and amazing stick work. This past Christmas, Nolan’s family drove to Montreal to see the World Juniors and watch Max Domi win the tournament MVP.

Hockey is an expensive sport, and Nolan appreciates that London Honda has sponsored his team. His sister Haley, named after Haley Wickenheiser, plays hockey too, so his family drives their Honda Odyssey and Honda CRV to hockey games and tournaments all over Ontario. And the way Nolan and Haley love the sport, it looks like there will be plenty of road trips in the Dunbar’s future.
