The Heart and Stroke Foundation is offering local hockey players in London the chance to lace up their skates with NHL alumni at the inaugural Hockey Heroes Weekend.
Hosted at the Western Fair Sports Centre from April 8-10, 16 teams will compete on the ice in an effort to raise money in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Together, sponsors, players and NHL alumni will help make a difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
The event offers participants an opportunity to play hockey with NHL alumni. Some of the greatest NHL heroes have shared the ice with Hockey Heroes Weekend participants already, including Gary Roberts, Joe Nieuwendyk, Dale Hawerchuk, and many more.
“The Heart and Stroke Foundation is committed to increasing physical activity rates across the province to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke,” said Jamie-Lynn Huitema, Sr. Area Manager, Community Engagement at the Heart and Stroke Foundation. “This is a unique opportunity to get active, lace up the skates, and play our national sport with NHL heroes. It’s not just an event for local hockey players; it’s an event that the whole province can be proud of. Funds raised from the weekend will support research and health promotion initiatives across the province.”
