FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 19, 2015
LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs men’s basketball program and the Mustangs Backcourt Club are pleased to announce the 2015 inductees into the Mustangs Backcourt Club Hall of Honour: Micah Bourdeau & Nat Graham. “The Mustangs Backcourt Club is proud to induct Micah & Nat into our Hall of Honour,” said Western head coach Brad Campbell. “Micah is one of the greatest players in our program’s history and a two time All-Canadian. Nat was a tremendous talent who helped elevate our program. Both were great all-around players and exemplified winning”.
A 6’3 guard, Micah Bourdeau joined the Mustangs in 1997 as a transfer from Saint Mary’s University and spent three seasons with the purple and white. A London native and graduate from John Paul II Catholic Secondary School, Bourdeau made an immediate impact in 1997-98 as he led the OUA West in scoring and was selected as an OUA West First Team All-Star and a CIS Second Team All-Canadian. In 1998-99 Boudreau helped lead the Mustangs to both an OUA Championship, where he earned OUA Finals MVP honours, and was also selected as a OUA West Second Team All-Star. In his final season with the Mustangs Boudreau once again led the OUA West in scoring, averaging 20.1 points per game to earn OUA West MVP, OUA West First Team All-Star, and CIS First Team All-Canadian honours. Currently Boudreau serves as an officer with the London Police Department.
Hailing from Miami, Florida, Nat Graham also arrived at Western in 1997 after transferring from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of two undefeated Ivy League Championship teams. In Graham’s first season in London he averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game to earn a spot as an OUA West First Team All-Star as well as Western’s Bob Gage Purple Heart Award. He picked up OUA West First Team All-Star honours again in 1998-99 while also adding a CIS Second Team All-Canadian selection to his resume after averaging 19 points per game and shooting 60% from the floor. Not only was Graham known for his offensive skills, he was also considered one of the top defenders in the country and helped lead Western to an OUA Championship in 1999.
Following his time in purple and white Graham played professionally for two seasons in Ireland and Denmark. He then embarked on a coaching career that has included five seasons as an assistant coach at Cornell University, and four seasons, including three as associate head coach, at Boston College. Graham returned to Penn this season where he serves as an assistant coach for the university’s men’s basketball team.
The Class of 2015 will be officially inducted into the Mustangs Backcourt Club Hall of Honour on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at The Wave Restaurant on the Western University campus.
