As the founder of Elite Mind Performance, Natascha Wesch brings her experience as a former international rugby player, varsity hockey player, and competitive gymnast with her to work.
It is often said that sport is 90% mental, and yet most teams and players spend most of their time focusing only on the physical aspects of the game. That’s where Natascha comes in. As a mental performance consultant, she works with athletes, coaches and teams to help propel athletic performance far beyond what can be achieved by working only on the physical part of the game. Natascha also helps athletes who are injured maintain their competitive edge while they are rehabbing.
Natascha has a great deal of experience and has worked with several high-profile clients, including the London Knights (from the 2009/10 season until 2013/14).
“Working with the Knights was a great learning opportunity to see the inside of a professionally-run hockey organization,” Natascha said.
More recently, she has been working with the Volleyball Canada Centre for Excellence at Fanshawe College. Natascha has also worked with soccer players who have taken their games to Europe, a few NHLers who wanted to improve their mental game in the offseason, several CHL/OHL players, and some Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
She also continues to push her own limits in sport, which she says helps keep her connected with what her clients experience on a daily basis. In addition to triathlon racing, Natascha has taken an interest in adventure-style racing. Last summer, she competed in the Spartan Beast Race, a 23 km obstacle course race.
No matter the level, Natascha believes that every athlete’s story of success is unique and important.
“It’s always rewarding to see or hear about athletes who have made significant strides in their mental game which has led to success,” she said.
