As August days pass, many plan ahead to what Fall activities will look like for their children. As the second week of September rolls around, Dance Extreme is well into its dance season. It’s important to choose a dance studio wisely and to do your research to find a studio that fits your lifestyle, as well as your aim in enrolling your child in dance.
Dance training is a rather large time commitment, and it is important that the studio atmosphere, learning environment and life goals of your studio of choice meet your expectations. Knowing these details in advance helps ensure the dance training is time well spent.
Dance training develops the muscles, bones and developmental growth – such as sequencing, rhythm and responding to directions. It is important that you choose a studio that provides quality dance training and education within a variety of levels to suit your child as they grow and develop. It is also important to look for qualified and educated dance professionals.
Age is important. Regardless of a dancer’s ability level, Dance Extreme believes that dance is a bonding experience and a social growth experience that should be shared with peers in one’s own age group while also challenging each dancer at a variety of levels within their age group.
Flexibility (of time) is also important when scheduling your children’s extracurricular activities. Dance Extreme offers a multitude of classes that run 7 days a week to suit the busy schedules of our members. Dance Instruction begins at 2 years of age up to adults, and we offer over nine different styles of dance.
Our students have a pathway to follow as they grow, which is important to foster an engaging experience at any age. Our youngest dancers start with immersion into the basics of ballet and jazz through creative movement activities, and as children progress by age and experience we offer more diverse class selections in our Creative Movement, Movers and Shakers and Tumblers Programs.
Our Pre-Dance program offers diversification into ballet, jazz and tap. Beginning at age 7, we offer different levels of study and commitment based on ability, focus and goals. Our dancers are also able to audition for Dance Extreme’s pre-competitive and competitive teams with two intakes – June and September. These dancers receive elite training in selected disciplines and compete locally, regionally and nationally.
Our Registration begins in June and runs throughout the summer months. Please visit our website for more information about our 2014-2015 dance season.
