They’re a hit for young ballplayers – especially ones who can’t bear the lengthy winter without getting some baseball action. The Eager Beaver Baseball Association (EBBA) has been busy offering indoor pre-season clinics since early January, and young ballplayers have had the opportunity to continue working on their skills – even in the coldest weather.
The clinics, which run weekly (for different age groups) from January to April at school gyms, provide players with the opportunity to work on their fundamentals and prepare for the next summer season, which will start in early May (the first outdoor practice is scheduled for May 1). The clinics are run by the league’s division convenors, with the help of coaches within the organization.
EBBA is looking forward to its 65th season of providing a quality baseball program to players of all ages. Nearly all board members are back for another fun year of baseball, which says a lot about the quality of EBBA as an organization.
From Little Sluggers (born 2014 & 2015) through to Juniors (born 1998-2000) and adults (coaching, umpiring and many volunteer activities), EBBA offers everyone a league to develop baseball skills – and life skills, too. Teamwork and mentoring are cultivated, along with throwing, catching and batting.
Mornington Park is the home park for the Little Sluggers, TBall, Rookie and Mosquito divisions, while PeeWees also play home games there. Bantams, Midgets and Juniors play out of Kiwanis Park. Away games are hosted by various leagues around the city and neighbouring communities.
