Recently, London Minor Football president and long-time coach and volunteer, Shawn Wilson, was recognized at a reception by the City of London as one of the Volunteers of the Year for 2017. Shawn started out as an assistant coach in the tyke division (ages 9 and under) and coached with the Red Storm for over 10 years, long after his son had graduated into high school football. He joined the LMFA executive four years ago, and became president two years ago.

The annual reception honours hard-working long-time volunteers from sports organizations across London. Like most non-profits, LMFA relies on volunteers throughout the year. Many people work countless hours behind the scenes so that we can provide almost 700 young athletes the chance to play football every fall.

LMFA is a house league that provides all players, ages 7 to 13, regardless of experience or ability, the chance to join a team, make friends, stay active, and learn teamwork. Every Sunday in the fall, the 24 teams compete on the fields at Citywide Park, leading up to LMFA Championship Day on November 5.
