Velodrome a hidden gem

Proudly sponsored by Patrick’s Beans

It’s a place where you can stay warm while riding your bike throughout the winter. Some say it’s a hidden gem in London. It is London’s indoor cycling track, Forest City Velodrome (FCV).

“The Velodrome provides a unique opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to experience riding a bike while having a blast,” says Craig Saari, president of FCV. “It’s a great place to socialize and stay active through the winter, and everyone is welcome!”

FCV offers ‘Learn to Ride’ (Track 1) regularly for those who want to try out the facility. All you need is a helmet and shoes, as FCV has track bikes that you can borrow to give it a try. Also offered at the Velodrome is ‘VeloKids,’ a kids learn-to-ride program. Youth who complete VeloKids have gone on to join Attack Racing, a London-based youth racing team which competes year-round in track, road and mountain biking, as well as cyclocross.

“VeloKids was an amazing program for my son,” says Sarah, a parent of a VeloKids graduate. “The coaches are patient, friendly and encouraging, and they really made the experience so much fun. My son graduated and joined Attack Racing, and he LOVES it. My family is so happy that we found VeloKids and FCV!”

 Velodrome Fundraiser

A neat fundraising program has been taking place at the Forest City Velodrome (FCV) through a partnership with Patrick’s Beans. The Velodrome raises funds by selling 1lb bags of coffee to its members and friends. The end result? Visitors get to enjoy a great cup of coffee while helping to raise funds for the track.

“The program with Patrick’s Beans has been amazing,” says Craig Saari, FCV president. “There are many options to choose from, and the beans are remarkable! We order on a weekly basis and fresh beans are delivered. We have been running it for several years now and plan to continue for the future. It’s a great deal, and everyone wins!”
