It’s been a staple in the London sports community since 2011, and the hub of soccer in the region, with close to 5,000 people accessing the facility weekly – not only for soccer, but for playing other sports, using the walking track, and
accessing the meeting rooms. Now, the BMO Centre is getting ready to expand in order to offer even more Londoners access to what will be the largest indoor soccer facility in Canada.
“We’ve always planned to have to expand, and now we’re excited to bring more than 1,500 additional users to the facility, said Tom Partalas, the president of the London Optimist Sports Centre (LOSC), which owns and operates the BMO Centre. “This project has always been about providing a safe, clean and world class experience for kids, and we’re thrilled to make it even more accessible to the community.”
The BMO Centre location will expand later this year, adding two more indoor fields plus dressing rooms, washrooms, and storage and office space. The old soccer dome on Cuddy Blvd. is slated to close in the spring of 2017, and many users will move from that location to the expanded BMO Centre. Both are run by LOSC, which is a uniquely volunteer-led non-profit organization in London.
“Ever since we opened, players and coaches alike have all raved about the quality of soccer at the BMO Centre, and now, with this expansion, we will be able to provide that experience to many more active Londoners,” said Partalas. “It’s truly an exciting time for the BMO Centre and for indoor soccer in the London region.”
