Ending the 2016/2017 season on a high is always a great way to show success, and that’s exactly what happened this year with Forest City Diving Club’s athletes. All 13 National Level FCDC divers qualified to compete at the Speedo Jr. Development Nationals in July, and together they earned six medals (four Silver and two Bronze) and enjoyed many top-12 finishes in the country. The Club ranked 3rd in the Nation for the 13 and under age group, and 5th for the 14 to 19 age group. This was a significant improvement from last season’s 6th overall finish.
Our Provincial level divers, meanwhile, attended their own Provincial Championship in May, bringing home four medals of their own (two Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze). Team Ontario representation for the Canada Games comprised 50% of FCDC divers. Team Ontario won six medals out of eight events, with FCDC bringing home the Bronze medal in Men’s 3M Synchro.
This coming season, FCDC will continue to strive for excellence. Our Pre-competitive group is happy to be welcoming new divers into our program as we continue to graduate divers to the competitive stream. As well, we are officially a two-coach team once again. Wing Hu, former Olympic coach of Venezuela, joined our Club in March and will assume active coaching duties in September.
Our PLOUF LTD program is in full swing. This is a multiple level program offering a fun and interactive way to learn how to dive. Two mini meets are held each season to mimic a competitive setting for the divers to showcase their dives to their families and friends. FCDC is the only club in London that offers the Dive Ontario sanctioned PLOUF-Learn to Dive Program. Space is limited, so don’t delay, sign up today!
