Summer Games ahead!

Sand Volleyball is a new addition to the Senior Summer Games, which are returning after far too long (due to COVID-19)! London residents aged 55 and up have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities – and even move on to represent the District at the provincial Games.

It’s time for senior athletes to get moving! That means registering to participate with the London Senior Games association in the Forest City. And registration time is now! Who’s eligible? Any local resident aged 55 and over looking to get active and have fun playing sports. It’s the London Senior Summer Games, and there’s a lot to choose from.

Sports and activities include contract bridge, euchre, darts, shuffleboard, five-pin bowling, lawn bowling, tennis, carpet bowling, pickleball, slo-pitch and sand volleyball (this is a demonstration sport).

Individual-specific events include prediction walking, cycling, 8-ball, snooker, and golf.

Participants are usually divided into age categories, including 55 +, 65+, and 75+. Gold, silver, and bronze pens are awarded in each category, and winners also have the option of representing District 30 at the Ontario 55-Plus Summer Games in Peterborough the weekend of Aug. 9-11 (many winners from the 55-Plus Games prior to the pandemic are travelling to Kamloops, B.C. to compete on a national level from Aug. 22 to 26).

An entry fee of $15 is all that’s required, which serves as your Ontario Senior Games Association membership (good for both summer and the upcoming winter games).
