Even as the St. Thomas Soccer Club plans for the upcoming 2015 season, there is a focus on the long-term future of the Club as well. It was with that future in mind that members of the council co-hosted a recent St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce Business-After-5 event. The STSC used the opportunity to reach out to the corporate community and updated them on some of the exciting initiatives that are being pursued for the betterment of the sports community.

The key project being planned is a new location for the STSC’s Grassroots program. The Club currently services close to 2,000 players, spread across three different facilities in and around St Thomas. Having shown focus on improving its organizational development and technical programming, the Club will now look closer at partnering with the City of St. Thomas and the Municipality of Central Elgin on ways to improve the area facilities.

The Club is working towards both improvements to existing facilities as well as development of new ones. One area the Club is looking forward to completing is the establishment of an indoor facility to help provide year-round programming to its membership.

The STSC has begun an internal fundraising campaign within the membership, and will be actively engaging the corporate community for support. While a great deal of time and energy has already gone into the project, there are still many more steps to take before the club is able to realize its goals. Organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, and events like Business-After-5, will continue to lay the foundation for a strong partnership between the STSC and the vibrant corporate community in St. Thomas.
