At the Western Region Swimming Championships held June 7-10 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex in Brantford, Middlesex swimmers captured several medals throughout the weekend while competing against 29 other teams from across southwestern Ontario.

Kathryn Ivanov led the charge, winning gold in the 50m breaststroke while narrowly missing the Canadian National Trials time standard. Other gold medal winners included Evan MacArthur, Marissa Mann, Quinn Nolan, and Cam Teasdale. Other Middlesex swimmers to medal included Hayden Aziz, Holly Brown, Brady Fletcher, Justin Gmehlin, Bronwyn MacLeod, Declan Nolan, Isaac Russell, and Dylan Van Nes. A total of 29 Middlesex swimmers competed at the event.

Meanwhile, at the U12 Water Polo Provincial Championships at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo June 8-10, the Middlesex Water Polo team competed amongst 10 teams from across Ontario and finished the weekend with an exciting game, their fifth of the tournament, against the Maverick Colts.

In a closely-contested match, Middlesex nearly tied the game in the closing moments in an eventual 7-6 loss. The players had a lot of fun at the event and continued to improve their skills.
