Nelson Park Softball is up and running again, and the organization is excited to give its players a summer of fun on the diamonds. Though it’s been around for 40 years, the league has evolved and undergone many changes over that time. This year, the program will offer a coed TBall league (ages 4 to 6), a coed 5 pitch league (ages 7 to 9), and a CSL girls league (age 8 & up).
The goal is really to provide kids with the ability to learn the skills needed to play baseball, and to master the skills of being part of a team. Building relationships and making new friends is a big benefit of the league.
It truly is a great baseball/softball program in East London, and the club has offered many kids the opportunity to play through sponsorships over the years. Some funding has come from the Jumpstart program at Canadian Tire. East London Optimist has also been a big sponsor, as has Jack Ross and Ross Trophies, who generously provided all trophies for the league. They’ll be supporting the league once again this year, and they’re excited to see the kids continuing to learn and grow.
The league is always looking for coaches and extra volunteers to help out during the season. It’s a great opportunity for high school-aged students to collect volunteer hours. All at the ball field!
