St. Thomas Shock Basketball is a not-for-profit program that has been providing St. Thomas youth with THE best fundamental and skill developing basketball program since 2003. The organization has done this by providing both a development program and a competitive program that offers basketball to all youth from the beginner to the advanced.

The competitive side of the program is developed using tryouts from the participants who are attending the clinics. I have the pleasure of coaching the Major Bantam Boys team that consists of grade 7 and 8 boys. This year’s team is comprised of the following players: Niko Dennis, Clark Renaud, Jack Stubbs, Jack Tunstill, Max McCaulley, Tiekae Dillard, Owen Waterhouse, Matthew Richards, Ethan Bell, Mitchell Fillmore, Owen Hardy, Alex Foshay, Collin Banman, Luke Henderson, Carter Richardson and Christian Vecchio. The team is coached by myself and Tyler Dawdy.

Our season will consist of 25 to 30 basketball games, including six tournaments and exhibition games that run from October to April. During that time, we will practice two times per week for a total of 60 practices. Our program’s belief is that you should practice twice as much as you play at a young age. While winning is our goal, it isn’t the reason we play. Skill development, knowledge and an even greater love of the game is what our true focus is for this season!
