The London Shooters started playing together with Ball Hockey International (BHi) three years ago, starting in the D2 division in the summer season. Flash forward to last spring, and they found themselves crowned division champions.

The Shooters, says team captain John Brown, play in an old chicken bar on Saturday mornings throughout the year. In fact, this is where the team got its start. The men, who are friends through work and baseball, put a team in the Play On Tournament, and then decided to join BHi after that.

“I got involved to keep active and stay in good shape,” said Brown, who notes that the team has continued to add players over the months and has a full roster now. “It’s also a great way hang out together outside of baseball. There’s real camaraderie, and it’s all about having fun.”

The Shooters now play in all seasons of BHi, and they’ve come to love the organization and the people involved.

“We know a lot of the other teams and players,” said Brown, “and we like the boards and the scoreboards. It’s cheap and affordable, and it’s a great time.”

Though the team had some rough times early on, including not winning a single game during a season, they have come a long way and are enjoying a lot more success these days.

“The Shooters are truly an impressive team,” said Dan Gilbert, president of BHi. “They’ve improved by leaps and bounds. To go from a year not winning a game to his past spring where they took home the D2 division spring championship trophy… that’s pretty cool.”
