Play It Again Sports Kelly Green
It’s already been a season full of memories for the Play It Again Sports Kelly Green team in the South West Optimist Soccer league, but there are plenty more to come. Notably, the team is excited about competing in the Challenge Cup on July 17.
Ken Van de Haar is not only the sponsor of the team, but he’s also the head coach. He is joined by assistant coaches Kevin Moore and Diana Nagle.
“I always like to sponsor to help out the leagues, as well as to support the teams my children play on,” said Van de Haar, who has been coaching youth soccer for much of the past 10 years.
Besides having fun, the Play It Again team is focused on developing ball control skills, working on their offensive dribbling skills, and learning how to defend. Van de Haar’s goal is to continue to teach his players the understanding of playing as a team, moving without the ball to get open, and feeling more comfortable with the ball on their feet.
“We have a great mix of players that are assertive with the ball and without,” Van de Haar said. “It’s a good mix of players who like to play different positions.”
The team had a solid start to the year, winning once and notching two ties in their first four matches. They’re hoping to keep up the strong play, compete well at the Challenge Cup, and get better and better as the season goes on.

Play It Again Sports (PIAS) is one of the original recyclers of sports equipment. At PIAS, we proudly support numerous kids sports teams in Hockey, Baseball, Soccer and Lacrosse, and many other sports. In addition, we do special events for some of the local hockey associations, as well as support some school programs in London through donations to Silent Auctions and other support.
