NorWest ‘Off’ Season Development Options
Nor’West is offering standards-based programs for all stages of development, with flexible and gender specific schedules, as well as weeknight or weekend options! As well, you can choose from 8-week or 16-week packages.
ALL programs are targeted at both Competitive and Recreational soccer players, and ALL Programs are delivered, supervised and led by certified and qualified coaches!
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE – One Program for Recreational & One Program for Competitive
The Centre of Excellence program (COE) is offered with the individual player in mind. Technical focus topics such as ball mastery, passing and receiving, shooting and finishing, and shielding will be themed each week. The sessions’ style will use a mix of activities and small-sided games. This allows players to work on their technique (mechanics of) and skill (ability to execute technique under pressure and on demand), while building confidence in decision making. The COE program follows the clubs’ player development plan and features age-appropriate training (Long Term Player Development).
MY SKILZ CLUB (Open Membership) – Attend once, twice, or up to 5 times a week!
The My Skilz Club is offered with the individual player in mind. Each weekday a different technical focus will be offered; Touch Tight, Juggling Time, Ball Striking (see below). With one player working with a ball maximizing touches during each session, players will be able to practice what they learn in their own environment. This is a ‘mistake-allowed’ environment, where a player can try it and master it. Fall in love with mastering the ball!
Touch Tight – offered Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Focuses on technical ball work, developing touch and coordination – Ball Mastery at its finest!
Juggle Time – offered Tuesdays. Focuses on touch on the ball while in the air. This skill requires pure touch, fast feet and patience! Jugglers will be able to set goals, track progress and enjoy creativity at its best with the ball.
Ball Striking – offered Thursdays. Focuses on shooting/finishing/passing the ball in various methods. Basic technique first, building to more difficult technique. Laces, instep, curve/bend the ball – all topics within this theme.
JUST PLAY PROGRAM – All about the enjoying the game!
The Just Play program is an opportunity for young players to just play! This is the time to try what has been practiced, watched on youtube, or simply made up. There are no scores or standings. Players will be encouraged to just play!
Features small-sided 3v3 or 5v5 games following Futsal rules to allow technique to show instead of size or speed. Like pick up street ball, players will be required to self-officiate, with the on-site Staff Coaches supervising. Games will be based on LTPD stages and be gender specific.
