The London Aquatic Club has continued its 2017-18 swimming year with strong showings at recent competitions this spring and summer.

The club hosted its annual Hollandia Invitational swim meet at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre on May 11-13, where almost 800 swimmers from 20 swim clubs participated. LAC swimmers posted over 500 personal bests, with nine swimmers racing to their first-ever Regional Championship qualifying times. Three more achieved their first provincial standard, and one swimmer achieved a first-time junior national qualifying swim.

On June 7-10, LAC had over 100 swimmers compete at the Regional Championships at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, with 41 of those swimmers collecting a total of 99 medals, and another 23 swimmers finishing in the top 8 in at least one individual event. To top it off, LAC won its sixth consecutive overall team title.

The very next weekend saw 16 LAC’ers aged 13 and under compete at the Ontario Summer Festival at the Markham Pan-Am Pool, and from July 5-8 the club sent 36 swimmers to Halifax to race at the Nova Scotia Championships.

Also, in recent competitions, new club records were established by 18-year-old Maggie MacNeil, 14-year-old Carter Buck, 12-year-old Andy Lian, and 12-year-old Lauren Campbell.
