Looking to make significant physical changes in January’s resolution-oriented month? While New Year’s resolutions and yearly goal-setting are a great idea, let’s be realistic: ‘quick-fix trending diets’ are completely flawed. If you want to change your physique, you must be willing to change your lifestyle and commit to your health – both mentally and physically.
Lasting results stem from lasting habits. Typically, fad diets enforce routines that are naturally unsustainable and set you up for failure. Commonly, they cause people to rebound and reverse the initial effectiveness of the diet. In fact, Body and Health Canada reported that despite the fact 85% of people lose weight in a quick-fix fad diet, only 15% are typically successful in keeping the weight off after two years. It has also been proven that many individuals gain back more weight than they lost in the first place.
